About the Service

ChronicleVTT is an online virtual tabletop for running tabletop RPG sessions. The Service includes features such as maps, tokens, fog of war, dynamic/animated scenes, and multiplayer session tools.

Eligibility and Accounts

You must provide an accurate email address and keep your account secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.

The Service is not intended for children under 13. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent/guardian to use the Service.

Beta / Pre-Alpha Notice

ChronicleVTT may be offered as Pre-Alpha/Early Access. This means features may change, bugs may occur, and uptime is not guaranteed. We'll still do our best not to ruin game night.

Subscriptions, Billing and Plan Limits

Paid plans unlock higher usage limits and features (see the Pricing page). Plan limits may include monthly upload allowances, total storage caps, and dynamic scene limits.

Payments and taxes/VAT may be processed by a Merchant of Record (e.g., Paddle), who may appear on your statement.

Upload Limits and File Processing

Each plan includes a maximum file size per upload (e.g., 10MB for Free, up to 200MB for Venue). Files exceeding your plan's limit will be rejected.

To improve performance, we may automatically optimise uploaded images (e.g., compressing or converting to efficient formats). This helps your maps load faster for players while preserving visual quality.

Cancellations

You can cancel at any time. Unless otherwise stated, cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not generally provide refunds for partial periods except where required by law or described in the Refund Policy.

User Content (Maps, Uploads, Campaign Assets)

You may upload content such as images and maps ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content.

By uploading User Content, you grant us a limited licence to host, store, process, and display it solely to operate and improve the Service (e.g., showing it in your sessions, syncing it to players, generating thumbnails, applying fog of war).

You confirm that you have the rights to upload and use your User Content (including copyright and permissions).

Prohibited Content and Behaviour

You agree not to upload, share, or use the Service for content or activity that is illegal, harmful, or violates rights of others. This includes (non-exhaustively):

• Content that is unlawful, exploitative, or abusive
• Content that infringes copyright/trademarks
• Malware, phishing, or attempts to bypass authentication/limits
• Attempts to access other users' data without permission
• Harassment, hate content, or threats

Fair Use and Rate Limits

To ensure reliable service for all users, we apply reasonable rate limits on certain actions such as scene transitions, asset loading, and API requests. Normal gameplay is unaffected by these limits.

Automated tools, scripts, or excessive polling that place unusual load on the Service may be throttled or blocked. If you believe you've been affected in error, please contact us.

Reporting, Moderation, and Enforcement

We may provide tools to report User Content. Reported content may be quarantined while reviewed. We may remove content and/or suspend or terminate accounts for violations, including repeated infringement or abuse.

We may also restrict access where necessary to comply with law or to protect users. (Yes, this is the "don't make me become a content police" clause.)

Availability, Changes, and Updates

We may modify, replace, or discontinue parts of the Service. We may update plan limits and pricing with reasonable notice where practical.

Third-Party Services

The Service may depend on third-party providers (e.g., hosting, authentication, storage, payments, email delivery). Their services may have separate terms and privacy policies.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, error-free performance, or that the Service will meet every specific requirement.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Chronicle Games Ltd will not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profits, or loss of data.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where it cannot be limited by law (including for fraud or death/personal injury caused by negligence).

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if we must do so for legal/security reasons.
